Abstract
Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD/MASLD) affects up to 38% of the global adult population and more than 70% of individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The coexistence of these conditions increases the risks of cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and major cardiovascular events.
