Abstract
The article examines the sociocultural transformations that led to the emergence of postmodern society through the concepts of the referent crisis and the triumph of the simulacrum in the philosophy of J. Baudrillard and J.-F. Lyotard. It analyzes the mechanisms of hyperreality stabilization manifested in the dehistoricization and semantic erosion of contemporary discourse. The study introduces the methodology of “referential lacunae” for assessing the stability of scientific knowledge and identifying the extent to which simulacra penetrate academic and everyday practices. The paper aims to promote critical literacy in the context of the growing dominance of simulated structures of reality.
