Abstract

The article examines the influence of social networks on the formation of personal and social identity among young people in a postmodern society. It describes key transformations in communication, self-presentation, and interaction within the digital environment. The study analyzes such phenomena as identity fragmentation, the construction of the virtual “self,” the comparison effect, and dependence on social approval. Special attention is paid to the risks and opportunities of the digital environment that influence young people’s self-esteem, social roles, and behavioral strategies. The article concludes that the development of digital literacy and critical thinking is essential for the harmonious formation of identity in the era of digital media.
